Bob Westman

Westman joined the Varsity Blues track and field coaching staff in 2009. Prior to that, he coached for one season at York University. He holds a NCCP level 3 sprints and hurdles coaching certificate and is completing his Master's in High Performance Coaching from UBC.

As an athlete, Westman was a sprinter from 2001-05 and was the receipient of 12 CIS medals, including four golds. 

The 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia marked Westman's first international coach experience. Since then, he served as the sprints, hurdles and relays coach for Team Canada at the 2014 NACAC under-23 championship in Kamloops and was the head coach of Team Canada at the 2015 NACAC senior championship in San Jose, Costa Rica. In 2017, he had his first assignment at the World Relay Championships. In 2018, he coached on home soil at U of T at the NACAC Senior Championships. And coming up in 2019 he will be the head coach of the Summer Universiade team in Naples, Italy as well coaching at the World Relays in Yokohama, Japan.
 
Under his tutelage, the sprint relay teams have earned 36 total medals at the OUA and U SPORTS Championships, including four provincial and national records. He has also coached 27 individual all-Canadians. On the international scene, Westman has coached an Olympic finalist and semi-finalist, Pan Am Games medalist and athletes on over a dozen national teams.
