2024 Men's Water Polo Roster
Biography
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's water polo team is proud to announce the addition of Andrew Reed to their 2023 roster.
Reed started playing water polo in fifth grade, joining the San Jose Express, the club he has played for his entire career. He was named a starter in his freshman year at The Harker School in Northern California. In his third year, he helped lead Harker to its first ever CCS water polo D2 title. In his final year, his high school team qualified for the CCS open division championships, something that no Harker team had done in any sport in the school's history. Reed was rewarded with a second-team all CCS selection.
“Andrew brings quickness, a great read of the game and excellent hands,” stated Blues Director of Recruiting, George Gross, Jr. “He has an excellent shot with a quick release and he can play on both sides of the pool.”
Outside of the pool, Reed participated in a Johns Hopkins research program at Loyola Marymount University that analyzed ocean current conservation efforts in various parts of the world and how they could be improved or modified. He also spearheaded the volunteer effort of his team for the Second Harvest Food Bank, an organization that donates goods to those in need.
“I am looking forward to studying at the University of Toronto because it has an incredibly open and friendly academic environment and allows me plenty of opportunities to explore different majors,” enthused Reed. “I also love that the school is located right in the heart of Toronto, allowing me to explore the city in my free time. As a biology major, U of T also offers some of the best research and internship programs that will allow me to build my resume early.”
Reed will major in Biological Sciences through Woodsworth College.
