2025 Men's Water Polo Roster
Biography
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's water polo team is proud to announce the addition of Ali Sayli to their 2023 roster.
Ali spent seven years playing for Galatasaray in Turkey, winning Turkish Water Polo League championships each year. He was named to the Turkish national team in 2016 and spent four years as a member of the squad and played in two European championships. He moved to Toronto in 2021 and joined the Mavericks Water Polo Club.
“Ali brings strong goaltending experience to the Blues,” indicated Blues men's water polo consultant coach, George Gross, Jr. “He has strong fundamentals, is a fierce competitor and plays like an extra defenceman roaming outside of his crease. He joins third-year goalies Miguel Garcia (Spain) and Alex Sanderson (USA) to form an international goalie brigade.”
“I chose the University of Toronto since it is the best school in Canada and the best water polo team,” stated Sayli. “The level of water polo at U of T is the best option for me. I also like the city of Toronto.”
