Malinda Hapuarachchi

Malinda Hapuarachchi joined the coaching staff in the 2012 season. She was the cornerstone of the Blues success during her tenure, contributing substantially to three consecutive OUA titles and CIS bronze medals. For her efforts in 2006-07, she received national recognition when presented with the prestigious CIS Gail Wilson award as the country’s best all-around athlete. In 2005 and 2006 she garnered a host of awards including CIS first team all-Canadian honours, selection to the CIS tournament all-star team, OUA player of the year, OUA first team all-star and team MVP. She was U of T’s representative at the OUA women of influence luncheon in 2006.

Malinda was a member of the Canadian national indoor team which competed in the World Cup in February of 2007. In the fall of 2007, Malinda lived in Breda, Netherlands and played for the Push Hockey Club, while also coaching youth teams. She co-captained Team Canada at the 2010 indoor Pan Am championships, helping the team to a fifth-place finish, while also competing at the 2015 Indoor World Cup. She served as an assistant coach with the Queen’s Gaels field hockey team from 2008-11.
