- Returning players, recruits and all others will be assessed by the coaching staff of the Varsity Blues Women's hockey team.
- The current roster of the Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team, the current competition in the OUA and the current competition in U SPORTS women's hockey will be used in comparison when evaluating and assessing the criteria below.
Team Criteria and Selection
This will be based on several factors that include but are not limited to the following:
- Needs of the team (positional needs, positional suitability, must align with our short-term and long-term needs)
- On-ice skill (technical, tactical and team strategy skills)
- Competitiveness (both on and off the ice)
- Work ethic
- Ability to understand and play within on-ice team systems
- On-ice performance
- Fitness level
- Ability to contribute in a positive manner in team environment
- Coachability
- Potential for development
- Professional attitude
- Character
- Off-ice conduct and outstanding representation of the Varsity Blues hockey program and university
Open tryout date is Monday, September 8 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Registration will be at 6:15 p.m. inside Varsity Arena's main entrance. There will be a short meeting following registration. Tryout participants will be notified in the following 24 hours after the open tryout about whether they will be invited back for an extended portion of training camp. Final team selection will be completed by October 2, 2025. However, this date is subject to change and could be completed earlier at the discretion of the coaching staff.
