University of Toronto Varsity Blues Swimming Scholarships


Rule # 1-- incoming students must have 80% grade 12 marks to be eligible for a scholarship (this is a Canada-wide rule).
Rule # 2-- to be eligble for scholarships in subsequent years, students must have at least a 70% average.
Rule # 3-- the maximum amount of a scholarship is $4,000 (note: schools outside Ontario are different).

Through our generous alumni and some matching provincial and university funds, the swim team has raised $1.5 million dollars for an endowment that is used scholarships and program funding.

The swim team has just launched a new campaign to raise another one million dolars over the next five years.

The Varsity Blues offer 19 scholarships annually--usually split between rookies and returning swimmers.

The University also has an extensive bursary and acedmic scholarship program as well as a large amount of funding for those with financial need.

Academic Awards 

The University of Toronto has comprehensive scholarship programs to recognize outstanding achievements at different levels of study. The University, its colleges and faculties award approximately 1,600 admission scholarships and over 4,000 in-course scholarships every year.

In addition to scholarships that recognize outstanding academic achievement, the University provides many awards which take into account financial need.

The University of Toronto Advance Planning for Students (UTAPS) is a financial aid program for full-time students who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons and are eligible for need-based government student assistance.
