The Varsity Blues rowing team has a rich history, having been in existence for over 110 years. Not only have some of Canada's most successful athletes been associated with Blues rowing, but it is also the oldest university rowing club in Canada.Â

Richard Symsyk (VIC 6T8, BEd 7T0) was a junior Varsity rowing champion and a member of the 1963 championship winning team. He went on to join the Canadian crews for both the 1968 and 1972 Olympics.
Tommy Loudon was the Blues rowing coach from 1921 to 1935. He led the Canadian men’s rowing team — made up of several U of T students — to a silver medal finish at the 1924 Paris Olympics, and coached again at the 1928 Games.
