This tradition of excellence continues to the present day. For the past two decades, the U of T men's soccer team has been consistently ranked in the top 10 in the country and has reached the U SPORTS national championships 16 times, bringing home the national title in 1988 and a silver medal in 2005. The Blues last captured the OUA title in 2010.
Â
Varsity Blues soccer also regularly attracts some of the top high school student-athletes from Ontario and across the country. In 1989 the entire Varsity Blues squad represented Canada at the World University Championship and captured the silver medal. Since 1979, 46 Varsity Blues have been named U SPORTS all-Canadians, including Mark Purdy, Peter Sarantopoulos, Joe Demiglio, Mike Bialy and Darragh McGee.
