NICK'S NOTES NUMBER wu
June 5, 2008 - Hello all,
The team was pretty busy yesterday. We had another autograph and picture session, where once again we were treated like celebrities. The Taiwanese really are giving us the red carpet treatment here, they are so nice to us.
We've played again since my last blog. We played the Taiwan National Sports University (not Kainan as I stated in my previous entry). It was a much closer game then the previous games, although some strong shooting late, led by Nick Magalas and Rob Paris help spread a 10 point lead to 20 and essentially ice the game for us.
After the game, we went back to the hotel and headed to Taipei to go to the Night Market. The Night Market was an experience I'll remember for a long time. You get there, there are so many people walking around an outdoor crowded alley of sorts packed with shops and people all the way along. In the middle of the walkways are more, non-permanent shops. We got to witness quite a sight while we were there too. A couple times per night a bell rings and all the temporary shops pack up instantly, running away to hide. After a few minutes we realized it was because the police walk through and the salespeople aren't supposed to be there. It's crazy to see how fast they pack up and run away. It was really fun to bargain and barter with the people selling stuff. Everybody got some good deals while we were at the Night Market and everybody had a great time.
Today we play in the championship game against UBC. Both of us have posted perfect 3-0 records so far, and UBC has been playing well. It should be a good game between two strong teams.
We're heading to Taipei 101 tonight for our last night in Taiwan. We head home tomorrow morning at 7am to head back to Toronto. I'll try and send an update to let everyone know how the finals went. I hope all's well with everyone back home!
Cheers,
Nick
