Stinson Says #4 - Heat of the Battle

August 25, 2008 - Well its day four of two-a-days. Today is the day where your body is in a constant state of numbness. Your body is sore, fatigued, and you feel like you have been hit with a hammer repeatedly until you can’t feel your limbs.

There have been a few key injuries due to fatigue but nothing that a little rest can't heal. We have a few guys who have been asked to change positions for the better of the team. These guys have taken on their new rolls without complaining and have excelled in their newfound position. They are a great fit for the offence/defence and made our team better by making this transition.

I can understand what they are going through having to switch from the quarterback to a receiver/running back role. You see yourself as a certain player with certain skills but it’s when you accept and trust the coaches with an open mind that you can take on the new role and really make it your own.

In our two-a-day practices things started to heat up. There were a few skirmishes and fights breaking out ending with some bodies thrown in the heat of the battle. This was brought about by guys trying to make plays. They found themselves wanting to make the play so bad that they took things personal when someone on the opposite side of the ball beat them.

As coach DeLaval said, "some fights are good and some are bad; what happened on the field today was good." We are finally playing with passion, pride and intensity. We are taking our play to a whole new level.
