GRATTON RECOGNIZED AS PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ARULPRAGASAM NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-STAR

As announced by the OUA on Thursday (Mar. 5) afternoon, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball player Maxime Gratton has been named OUA Player of the Year. He is also joined by teammate Hunter Arulpragasam as an OUA first team all-star.

Concluding his U SPORTS career at the University of Toronto, Gratton completed one of the greatest single seasons in Varsity Blues history to become the second U of T student-athlete to be named OUA Men's Volleyball Player of the Year. Offering a powerful serve and dynamic attack as an outside hitter, the Developmental Psychology & Education graduate student led the entire province in total points (340) and points per set (4.5). He additionally ranked second in the OUA in both total service aces (37) and aces per set (0.49), recording a service ace in all but two of his 19 matches played. His 340 points across the 2025-26 campaign places him fourth in the U of T record book for best single season performances. This also marks the third time in his career he received OUA first team all-star honours.

Also concluding his U SPORTS career, Arulpragasam received OUA all-star recognition for a third time in his five seasons competing as a Varsity Blue. With a powerful swing on the outside, he recorded a team-high and career-high 285 kills across 20 matches during the 2025-26 campaign. This saw him finish second in the OUA in total kills and fourth in kills per set (3.52). In total, his 332 points ranked as the third best offensive performance across the province, averaging 4.1 points per set. Arulpragasam's defensive effort also saw him tally 24 total blocks and 196 total digs, ranking Top 5 in the latter as well. At the conclusion of his fifth season he finishes fourth in program history in total points and became one of only four Varsity Blues to surpass the 1000 point plateau when including regular season and postseason statistics.
