U OF T GARNERS OUA MAJOR AWARD, THREE ALL-STARS AND ONE ALL-ROOKIE

As announced by the OUA on Wednesday (Mar. 11) afternoon, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team were recognized with a major award, three all-stars, and an all-rookie.

Varsity Blues veteran Kaitlyn McKnight received the OUA True Sport Award, honouring a player who best exemplifies a combination of high-level ability, exceptional sportsmanship, and integrity on the ice.

McKnight has been a leader for the Blues on-and-off the ice, taking on the mantle of captain this season. Offensively, she added another 10 points (6 G, 4 A) to her career tally this season, surpassing 50 career regular season points (30 G, 28 A). Across her four seasons, she has now appeared in over 100 regular season games and has only 22 career penalty minutes, registering just four throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

Being named OUA all-stars for the first time in their careers, Abby Whitworth was selected to the first team, while both Christina Alexiou and Kalie Chan were chosen for the second team.

Whitworth was an offensive powerhouse this season, leading the entire province with 20 goals. She became the first Varsity Blue to lead the OUA in goals since 2007-08. This included for Whitworth six power play markers and four game-winning goals. Adding nine assists, she finished fourth overall in the OUA with 29 total points.

Alexiou provided Toronto with another vital goal-scorer, finishing second on the team with 23 total points (11 G, 12 A). Jumping on the ice for all 26 regular season games, she delivered with a high-motor registering six multi-point game, while also adding two shorthanded goals.

A fifth-year veteran, Chan has been a key contributor on the Blues blue line across all five seasons at U of T. This year she led all Toronto defenders with 13 points (2 G, 11 A) across 25 regular season games played. Chan also quarterbacked the Blues power play, ranking seventh in the province with six power play assists.

Rounding out the Varsity Blues honours, Olivia Brassard was named an OUA all-rookie.

In her debut season wearing the Blue and White, Brassard appeared in 25 of 26 games, consistently pairing with Chan as a top defensive unit. She played a key role in U of T's defensive scheme which ranked Top 6 in the province in goals against.
