A perennial contender in the OUA year-after-year, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team are ready to begin another trek up the mountain-top as the 2025 OUA regular season begins this weekend.
Â
Hosting the 2024 provincial championship at Back Campus Fields last fall, Toronto finished in fourth place overall. Despite missing out on the podium, the Blues did complete another stellar regular season going 9-0-1 (W-L-D) to finish atop the OUA standings ahead of the postseason. The squad will face some adversity as resurfacing to the team's home pitch will see the Blues on the road for a majority of the season. However, with another influx of impressive first-year talent set to join ranks with key veteran returners, U of T will once again be aiming to find their form and make a push back to the top step come late-October.

"We are focusing on reconnecting, setting the tone for the season, and pushing each other to be our very best. Our goal is to set the standard every time we step onto that field. We expect to bring grit, accountability and hard work every single day. We are not afraid to hold each other accountable when needed and thus, creating a safe space for new ideas and opinions. MARQUEE GAMES
September 20 at McMaster
The Blues open their season in Hamilton where they will face-off with the McMaster Mauraders. Toronto have outscored McMaster 15-1 over their last three meetings, claiming the win in each of the last three years. U of T will look to set the tone of their season in this first of many road outings.
Â
September 28 vs. Western
Having the opportunity to meet the Western Mustangs on a neutral field a little closer to home, U of T will welcome their London counterparts to Alumni Stadium at York University for a relative home-game for the Blues. Toronto currently hold an impressive 28-0-4 (W-L-D) undefeated streak versus the Mustangs dating back to 2008, and will be looking to add to the streak in front of a home crowd of sorts.
Â
October 18 vs. York
With renovations to Back Campus Fields tentatively scheduled to be done in time for this regular season finale, the Blues are hopeful to have the chance to welcome rival York for the first OUA game on the resurfaced pitch. The single home game on the schedule for U of T starts a home-and-home series with the Lions to conclude the regular season.
