As announced at the 2024 U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championship banquet on Wednesday (Nov. 6) evening, University of Toronto Varsity Blues second-year striker Andrea Schifano was named a U SPORTS second team All-Canadian, while first-year midfielder Niklas Hallam was selected as a U SPORTS all-rookie.
After a breakout campaign in his first-year with the Blues last fall, tallying five goals and four assists, Schifano propelled himself even further in Year 2 as he showcased himself as one of the premier strikers in the province this season, The Palermo, Italy native appeared in all 12 regular season contests this fall, tying for the Blues team-high and finishing second in the province with 10 goals scored. A consistent threat on the offensive side of the pitch all season long, Schifano tallied a goal in seven different matches, including a strong push to end the season where he scored a goal in each of the last three straight games. This was highlighted by a new career-best four goals in Toronto's 11-1 regular season finale victory versus Laurentian.
Right there at the top of the scoring list all season long, Hallam earned the all-rookie honours after proving himself as am impact player in the midfield immediately. Hailing from Victoria, B.C., Hallam tallied five goals across his first three appearances in the Blue and White, and would go on to tie Schifano for the team-high and second in the province with 10 goals this season. A true playmaker, he also added two assists to his rookie campaign stat line.
