In a hard-fought three-set match, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team fell to the No. 4 Queen's Gaels 3-0 on Saturday (Nov. 30) afternoon at the Queen's ARC in Kingston. Despite showing moments of strong play, the Blues were edged out in each set by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-18 by a determined Gaels squad.
Toronto demonstrated resilience, hitting .150 as a team while posting 47 digs and 40 points overall. The Blues kept the second set especially competitive, showcasing their offensive and defensive capabilities throughout the match, picking up a game-high 13 kills in middle set.
Julia Murmann led the Blues with 11 kills, a service ace, and nine digs. Anna Gadomski added five kills and led with a .400 hitting percentage, while Natalia Souza contributed five kills and five digs. Setter Robin Melnick facilitated the attack with 22 assists and added seven digs. Libero Delaney Watson anchored the defense with 12 digs, keeping the Blues competitive in long rallies.
For Queen's, Mary Stewart was the standout performer with 12 kills on a .556 hitting percentage, while Amanda Siksna contributed six kills and five blocks, making a strong impact on both ends of the court.
The Blues fall to 4-6 on the season, while the Gaels improve to 11-1.
