Caroline Eagles scored two goals to help the No. 2 nationally-ranked Varsity Blues women's hockey team beat the TMU Bold 5-1 on Thursday (Feb. 16) night at Varsity Arena.
With the win, the Blues sit first in the OUA East division with 67 points and a 21-2-1-2 record.
WHAT HAPPENED: The Blues offence came out firing in the first period scoring three goals. Five minutes in rookie forward Kaitlyn McKnight picked her corner on the power play, before second-year forward Nikki McDonald doubled the Blues under two minutes later. Eagles scored her first of the game on the power play with just under three minutes to play.
The Bold were the lone team to score in the second period when TMU forward Dani Fox scored halfway through the period on the power play.
The offence came alive again for the Blues in the third period, with fifth-year forward Céline Frappier grabbing the rebound of a McDonald shot. Under a minute later, Eagles scored her second of the game to cap off the scoring.
Blues starting goalie Madeline Albert finished the game with 20 saves.
