Box Score The No. 8 nationally-ranked Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 4-2 to the No. 5 Brock Badgers on Saturday (Nov. 18) night at Varsity Arena.
The Badgers opened the scoring when Riley Gannon scored for Brock four minutes into the first period. After a back-and-forth rest of the period, the Badgers doubled their lead after a goal from Cale Sanders. The Blues wouldn't go down without a fight. With 37 seconds remaining in the period, Blues captain Cole Purboo put the Blues on the board to cut the Badgers lead in half.
The Blues kept the momentum heading into the second period, when Ben Woodhouse tied the game up four minutes into the period off a two-on-one with Billy Moskal.
Despite the Blues best effort, the Badgers scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period from Ethan Sims. Jared Marino sealed the deal for Brock in the final minute in the empty net.
Jordan Fairlie picked up 27 saves through the 60 minutes.
The Blues get ready for the second edition of the Battle of Toronto on Wednesday, November 22 against the TMU Bold. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., with the game being stream online via oua.tv
