BLUES EDGED OUT BY TMU

The Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell to the TMU Bold 3-2 in a shootout on Thursday (Sept. 22) evening at Varsity Arena.

The Blues would open the scoring late in the first period with a goal 17-minutes in from third-year forward Steven Elliott. Toronto would then double their lead a minute and a half later, with a goal from Kyle Potts.

In the second period, TMU scored with a minute to go, getting a power-play goal from Chris Playfair. Both goalies, Rayce Ramsay for the Blues and Garrett Forrest for the Bold, made key saves throughout the second period.

TMU would score the lone goal of the third period when William Portokalis found the back of the net to tie the game.

Following a goalless three-on-three overtime period, the Bold would go on to win the game in a shootout.

Ramsay finished the game with 28 saves on 30 shots. Forwards Ben Woodhouse, Peyton Reeves and defencemen Quinn Hanna each had one assist.

The Varsity Blues return to action September 23 when they face-off against the Concordia Stingers at Varsity Arena as they continue their exhibition schedule. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
