MACNAUGHTON CALLED UP TO CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAM

Current Toronto FC defender and Varsity Blues alumnus, Lukas MacNaughton has been named to the Canadian National Team roster ahead of their November camp and World Cup warm-up match against Bahrain on November 11.

Having just finished his first MLS season, after playing three years with Pacific FC, the call-up will mark MacNaughton's first experience with the National team.

During his first year with TFC, he appeared in 25 matches and logged 1789 minutes.

Located north-west of Qatar, separated by the Persian Gulf, Bahrain will serve as a place for MacNaughton and the Canadian squad to acclimate to the heat of the middle-east prior to the World Cup.

The Brussels product spent five seasons with the Blue from 2013-2017, and was named a four-time OUA East first team all-star and a two-time second team all-Canadian during his time at U of T.

Taking place at Al-Khalifa Stadium, a time for the friendly against Bahrain has yet to be scheduled. The Canadian team will then head to Dubai for their final tune-up ahead of the 2022 World Cup, where they will battle Japan on November 17.
