The youth of the Blues showed off their potential on Saturday, November 6 as rookies Sophie Grawbarger and Francesca Monte scored one goal each to lead the Blues to a 3-0 victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues put pressure on the Ridgebacks early, throwing 16 shots on net in the first. Second-year forward Natasha Athanasakos opened the scoring as she buried a Madelyn Walsh rebound on the powerplay. Toronto was up 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.
Toronto put Ontario Tech on their heels in the second, applying constant pressure with 10 more shots on net. Ridgebacks forward Jamie Bulleid received her second penalty of the game and on the ensuing powerplay, Nikki McDonald found fellow rookie Sophie Grawbarger, who fired the puck past Ridgeback goalie Zoe McGee for her first goal as a Blue.
The Blues added to their lead seven minutes later, when second-year forward Lauren MacDonnell threaded a cross-crease pass to defenceman Francesca Monte for the sliding one-timer and her first career goal. The Blues held a commanding 3-0 lead after two periods.

Toronto never let Ontario Tech in this contest putting a whopping 48 shots on McGee.
Third-year goalie Erica Fryer made 18 saves to backstop the Blues to a shutout victory.
