Ben Grondin, Jacob Maurutto-Robinson and Nikola Stakic were all honoured as Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced Central division award winners on Thursday afternoon.
Â
A fifth-year midfielder from Scarborough, Ont., Nikola Stakic earns his fifth career all-star nod in 2021. The team captain and kinesiology major scored four goals in nine matches this season, including the game-winner at Laurentian on Oct. 15. Stakic helped lead the Blues to a 6-3-1 regular-season record, good for third place in the Central division, and a mere 10 goals against in 10 matches.
Â
Fourth-year goalkeeper and Dalhousie Tigers transfer Ben Grondin backstopped the Blues this season. The two-time AUS all-star, who now adds an OUA all-star laurel to his name, started in six regular season matches, going 3-2-1 and recording two clean sheets. He went onto record a season-high nine saves in Toronto's narrow quarter-final loss to the No. 2 York Lions.
Â
Jacob Maurutto-Robinson earns his first career OUA all-star nod in 2021. The third-year defender from Toronto helped the Blues to only 10 goals against in 10 regular season matches. An ethics, law and society major, Maurutto-Robinson was also a member of the U18 Canadian national soccer team.
