The No. 2 seeded University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to the No. 7 Mount Royal Cougars in quarter-final action at the 2020 U SPORTS championship on Thursday afternoon in Charlottetown.

With the loss, the Blues will take on the loser of the No. 3Â StFX X-Women and No. 6 Montreal Carabins in consolation semifinal action on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. EST.

After two scoreless periods, fourth-year forward Mathilde De Serres got the Blues on the board, burying a Gabrielle De Serres rebound on the powerplay midway through the third period.

The Cougars responded though as Camryn Amundson scored less than two minutes later to even things back up.

Mount Royal completed the comeback 1:32 into the extra frame as Tatum Amy scored off the back post.

Second-year Blues netminder Erica Fryer made 17 saves in the loss.
