The No. 3 University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 3-0 to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday night (Jan. 5) at Gryphon Centre Arena.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 10-4-0-0 (W-L-OTW-OTL) but remain in second place, one point behind the York Lions (10-4-0-1) with a game in hand
HOW IT HAPPENED: Gabriele Underwood scored 13 minutes into the game and the home team held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Underwood doubled Guelph's lead seven minutes into the second frame as she buried her own rebound on the powerplay. The Gryphons added an empty-net goal with 13 seconds remaining in the game.
Second-year Blues netminder Erica Fryer made 15 saves in the loss.
UP NEXT: The Blues host the Laurier Golden Hawks in their second annual Pride Game this Friday, January 10 at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
