The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 3-1 on Friday, September 27 in Oshawa, Ont.

With the win, the Blues wrap up their pre-season schedule with a 3-2 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Second-year forward David Thomson opened the scoring with a powerplay marker just 2:02 into the contest. 10 minutes later, Thomson assisted rookie defenceman Brendan Bornstein's goal as Toronto took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Ontario Tech finally got on the board with a powerplay goal 6:12 into the second frame. The Blues responded though as Kevin Lavoie buried the puck with just over six minutes remaining in the period.
A scoreless third period saw sophomore netminder Alex Bishop make 10 of his 24 saves on the night.
UP NEXT: The Blues open their 2019-20 regular season next Friday, October 4 as they host the Guelph Gryphons at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
