BLUES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK VS. CARLETON

Coming off their Week 5 loss to the Queen's Gaels, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team will look to bounce back against the Carleton Ravens this Saturday, September 28 at MNP Park.

After dropping their season opener to the Waterloo Warriors, 33-30, the Blues defeated the Windsor Lancers, 54-26, in their home opener and then upset the then No. 10 nationally-ranked Laurier Golden Hawks, 38-34 to improve to a record of 2-1.

Although their Week 5 match up saw the Blues record drop to 2-2, Toronto's high-powered offence didn't skip a beat accumulating 345 yards through the air and 170 yards on the ground.

"We are disappointed with last week's result versus Queen's," said Greg Marshall, who is in his second season with the Blues. "We're looking forward to the opportunity to go on the road this week and play a good Carleton football team."

The Carleton Ravens (1-3) are coming off their third straight loss, following a 34-24 home defeat to the Waterloo Warriors this past Saturday. Before that, the Ravens fell to both the Western Mustangs and the Guelph Gryphons in Weeks 2 & 3, while narrowly edging out the Queen's Gaels, 18-12, in Week 1.

The last time the Ravens and Blues went head-to-head was in Week 5 of 2018, where the Blues fell to the Ravens, 38-26, at Varsity Stadium. The Blues last regular season victory over the Ravens was in 2013 when Toronto trounced the Carleton, 50-10.

Led by fourth-year quarterback Clay Sequeira, the Blues stand as the No. 1 offence in the OUA, averaging 535.8 yards per game and 38.8 points per game. Sequeira leads all U SPORTS QB's with 400.5 passing yards per game and 17 passing touchdowns, eight more than McMaster's Andreas Dueck, who's the second-ranked pivot in U SPORTS.

Third-year wideouts Nolan Lovegrove and Will Corby remain Sequeira's top targets, with both receivers leading U SPORTS with five receiving touchdowns on the year. Lovegrove also leads the nation in receiving yards per game with 115.8.

With a standout 10.5 tackle performance vs. the Gaels, Toronto's fifth-year linebacker, Damoy Robinson will be looking for a statement game vs the Ravens. Robinson, along with third-year linebacker Daniel Solaroli lead the Blue's defence with 24 tackles in four games. 2019 CFL draftee Malcolm Campbell leads the team in sacks with four in as many games.
