HOW IT HAPPENED: Third-year forward Scott Kirton opened the scoring late in the first period and Toronto was up 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.

Rookie forward Oliver Benwell scored the lone goal of the second frame as the Blues took a two-goal advantage into the third period.

The final 20 minutes saw both teams combine for six goals. Kyle Clarke put the Blues up by three early in the frame, but Ottawa finally got on the board two minutes later. Hunter Fargey scored on the powerplay to restore Toronto's three-goal advantage, but the Gee-Gees made things interesting with back-to-back goals to bring the game within one.

Second-year netminder Alex Bishop earned the victory in net.

UP NEXT: The Blues wrap up their pre-season schedule next Friday, September 27 as they travel to take on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
