Team Canada dropped a narrow 2-0 decision to the host Russians in the gold-medal game. Canada went 4-1 through pool play, defeating China, Japan, the United States and Switzerland, before falling 4-2 to Russia.

The Red and White defeated Japan, 5-1, in the semifinals to set up the Canada/Russia gold-medal game.

Straatman now returns home and heads to PEI for the 2019 U SPORTS championship, March 14-17, in Charlottetown.
