The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey fell 3-0 to the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday night (Feb. 7) at Gryphon Centre Arena.
STANDINGS: Despite the loss, the Blues still hold the eighth and last playoff spot, one point ahead of the Waterloo Warriors and Lakehead Thunderwolves and only two points behind the Windsor Lancers and York Lions.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Gryphons scored one goal per period, including an empty-netter with six seconds remaining, to seal the win. Rookie netminder Alex Bishop made 27 saves in the loss, while Gryphons goalie Andrew Masters made 22 in the shut out win. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the poweprlay on the night.
UP NEXT: The Blues host the Laurier Golden Hawks in their regular season finale tomorrow night at Varsity Arena at 7 p.m.
THE SKINNY: A Toronto regulation victory and Lakehead regulation loss tomorrow night would seal a Blues playoff berth.
