LAKERS FORCE GAME 3

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 4-1 to the Nipissing Lakers in Game 2 of their best-of-three OUA quarter-final series on Friday night (Feb. 22) in North Bay, Ont.

SERIES SCHEDULE: The Blues host a do-or-die Game 3 this Sunday, February 24 at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 4 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Lakers scored early and often, notching three third-period goals to take a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of action.

Fifth-year forward Lauren Straatman scored the Blues lone goal of the contest off a nice pass from Cristine Chao on the powerplay midway through the second period. Toronto trailed 3-1 at the second intermission.

The Lakers added an insurance marker in the last three minutes of the contest to round out the win.

Rookie netminder Erica Fryer posted 23 saves in the loss.
