Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

BLUES DROP FIRST GAME OF 2019

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 4-2 to the Brock Badgers to snap their eight-game winning streak on Friday night (Feb. 1) in St. Catharines, Ont.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Brock's leading goal scorer Annie Berg potted the first two goals of the game at 5:12 and 13:39 in the opening period. Thanks to that, Toronto trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes.

Kim Brown extended the Badgers lead to 3-0 at 11:17 into the second. The Blues responded on the power play, with Kassie Roache scoring her 11th goal of the season at 15:31. Toronto had numerous chances in the frame, but with less than 30 seconds left, the Badgers regained the three-goal thanks to Rebekah Feld.

Toronto outshot Brock 13-3 in the third, but only Mathilde De Serres was able to solve Brock's goalie Jensen Murphy with 12 seconds left.

First-year goalie Erica Fryer made 15 saves in a losing effort.

UP NEXT: The Blues have less than 24 hours before their back on the ice. This time Toronto travels down the road to battle the Ryerson Rams at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
