Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

BLUES WIN 7TH STRAIGHT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the RMC Paladins 6-3 on Saturday afternoon (Nov 9) in Kingston, Ont.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues struck first with a couple goals late in the first period. Joey Manchurek batted his sixth of the season out of the air to open up the scoring, followed by Ross Krieger just a minute later, who found the loose puck and put it in the back of the net.

The second period started with the Paladins getting a chance on the powerplay. Alex MacDonald capitalized to get RMC on the board and cut the Blues lead in half. Manchurek and David Thomson followed up with a two-on-one opportunity, and Manchurek made no mistake, burying his second of the afternoon. Two minutes later, Curtis Harvey won a face-off back to Evan MacEachern, who fired a hard slap shot into the back of the Paladins net.

Three minutes into the third period, Ross Krieger found the back of the net for his second of the game and extended the Toronto lead to four. RMC tried to fight back as Macdonald and Cameron Lamport scored two quick goals to bring their deficit back down to two. Nathan Hudgin scored with just over five minutes remaining to finish off the Paladins.

Third-year Blues goalie Frederic Foulem made 24 saves and recorded his first win of the season. The Blues have now won seven straight games for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

UP NEXT: The Blues come home to battle the York Lions on Thursday morning at 11:00am for their annual school day game at Varsity Arena.
