The University of Toronto Varsity Blues softball team upset the Queen's Gaels 8-2 in their first game of the 2019 OIWFA championship, before falling to the Ottawa Gee-Gees and McMaster Marauders in the double-knock out tournament, October 5-6, in Hamilton, Ont.
"It was a disappointing finish to the season with a tough pair of losses to Ottawa and McMaster," said Varsity Blues head coach Craig Sarson. "That being said, this team played the best game they've played in two seasons versus Queen's to open the playoffs. The future is bright for us if we can add to this strong core of young women and I'm very excited to see how we grow."
