BLUES WIN NAILBITER IN OT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the No. 9 Ryerson Rams 6-5 in overtime in a crazy back and forth battle on Saturday night (Oct 19) at Varsity Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues struck first with a one-timer from David Thomson off of a nice feed from Oliver Benwell. Ryerson responded just over halfway through the frame with a goal from Marcus Hinds. Toronto would get a chance on the powerplay and acted quickly. Evan MacEachern used his heavy slap shot to beat Rams goalie Troy Timpano. In the dying seconds of the period, Mathew Santos scored to tie the game up at 2-2 through 20 minutes.

The Rams followed up with a goal from Hayden McCool. Blues first-year forward Kyle Potts scored his first career OUA goal off a great individual effort to push the Blues back on top.
