RECORD BREAKING: Fourth-year quarterback Clay Sequeira connected with third-year receiver Will Corby on Toronto's second drive of the game for a 99-yard major to break former NFL'er Dan Feraday's 1981 Varsity Blues record for most passing touchdowns in a single season (22).
TORONTO STATS: Sequeira went 15-for-27 for 302 yards and four touchdowns on the day for a season-total of 24 to lead all U SPORTS quarterbacks.
Corby ended the game with four receptions for 150 yards and one major, while Nolan Lovegrove had six catches for 125 yards and one TD. Second-year running back Adam Williams recorded 11 carries for 73 yards in the loss.
Fifth-year defensive back Jordan Gillespie led all players with a season-high 10.5 tackles, while Malcolm Campbell racked up seven tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED: After Sequeira's 99-yard connection with Corby, the Gryphons got on the board with a 18-yard field goal, followed by back-to-back rushing touchdowns. Guelph was up 19-8 after 15 minutes of action.
Toronto conceded a safety in the early goings of the second quarter, but the Blues got back on the board as Sequeira connected a 20-yard pass with Lovegrove in the end zone. The Blues trailed by three (19-16) at halftime.
