BISHOP, BLUES TAKE DOWN GRYPHONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team held off the Guelph Gryphons for a 3-1 victory on Saturday (Jan. 12) night at Varsity Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues got off to a quick start. Aidan Wallace banked in his fourth goal of the season just over three minutes into the game. The Gryphons responded thanks to Connor Bramwell, who found the top corner at 14:21.The Blues took the lead for good in the final 10 seconds of the first. Toronto won an offensive zone faceoff and it ended with Matt Campagna sliding the puck by Guelph's goalie Andrew Masters just before the buzzer.




U of T maintained the lead the rest of the way. First-year forward Joey Manchurek added an empty netter in the final minute of the third.

Toronto's goalie Alex Bishop made 36 saves in the victory.

UP NEXT: The Blues are back on the ice next Friday (Jan. 18) night, when they host the Windsor Lancers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., at Varsity Arena.
