GAME OF THE WEEK: ACTION-PACKED LABOUR DAY SHOWDOWN AT VARSITY STADIUM

It will be a night full of excitement and energy as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team hosts the Windsor Lancers in their 2017 home opener under the lights this Monday night, September 4 at Varsity Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Advanced tickets are on sale here. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The Blues will be hosting their annual Parade of Champions at halftime, honouring 10 U of T teams who claimed national and provincial banners in the 2016-17 season. The parade will be highlighted by fourth-year swimming sensation and 2016 Olympian Kylie Masse, who on July 25, became the women's 100 backstroke world champion and world record holder at the FINA championships in Budapest.

Masse, along with other members of the Varsity Blues championship teams, will be available for autographs and a meet and greet throughout the game.

The Varsity Blues football team are also proud to be hosting their first-ever equipment drive. Fans are encouraged to bring gently used football equipment to donate to underprivileged youth who play football in our communities. The Blues will present the equipment at halftime of their September 16 game versus Guelph.

Both Toronto and Windsor will be in search of their first wins of 2017 after Week 1 losses. The Blues fell to the defending Yates Cup champion Laurier Golden Hawks on the road, while the Lancers dropped a 54-33 decision to the Waterloo Warriors, who were previously winless for two consecutive seasons.

The Blues will look to sync their offence, led by third-year Washington State transfer Connor Ennis, while maintaining their strong defensive performance from Week 1, which sees them ranked second in the OUA in team tackles with 78. Third-year defensive back Damoy Robinson led the Blues with 12 tackles this past weekend.

Toronto's defence will need to stop Windsor's ground game, led by veteran running back Marvin Gaynor's 139-yard performance on Sunday.

U of T is 21-22-0 versus Windsor, dating back to their first meeting in 1973. The Blues last defeated the Lancers, 8-7, in 2015, with Windsor taking their 2016 tilt 51-30.
