Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped their final regular season contest 8-2 on the road against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 11).
With the loss Toronto ends their season in 10th place in the OUA West divison with a 5-21-2 record.
In a five-goal first period, the Warriors were first on the board as Michael Siddall scored on the powerplay to jump ahead of the Blues 1-0.
However, U of T would respond with a powerplay marker of their own taking advantage of a major penalty from the Warriors as fourth-year Blues forward Connor Cleverley beat Waterloo goalie Mike Morrison top shelf to make it a 1-1 game.
The Warriors then went on a tear scoring three goals within 60 seconds, jumping ahead of Toronto 4-1 at the first intermission.
Fourth-year forward Russell Turner added another powerplay goal for the Blues in the second period, but the offensive push from Waterloo, which saw U of T outshot 47-14, would be too much for Toronto to handle.
Varsity Blues starting goaltender Michael Nishi picked up 18 saves, while backup goalie Evan Johnson earned 21 over the final 28 minutes of action.
