Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 71-38 to the No. 8 Ryerson Rams Friday evening (Feb. 10) at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
With the loss U of T drops to 7-10 on the season but remains in third place in the OUA East.
A slow start, which saw the Blues down 10-0 in the early goings, proved to be costly for Toronto as the chase for a comeback forced U of T out of their game plan.
Turnovers and fouls became an issue as the Blues searched for a run on offence but were derailed by the miscues.
Meanwhile, Rams OUA all-star forward Sofia Paska took advantage making 10 appearances at the free throw line in the first half en route to a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds.
U of T improved in the second half with second-year forward Charlotte Collyer leading the way, but the first half deficit proved to be too much. Collyer finished the night with a team-high eight points and five rebounds.
Fourth-year guard Rahshida Atkinson and first-year forward Charlotte Craig picked up seven and six points, respectively.
The Varsity Blues will now end their regular season in the nation's capital against two strong opponents in the Ottawa Gee-Gees (Feb. 17) and Carleton Ravens (Feb. 18). Both games are scheduled for tip off at 6 p.m. with the action being streamed live on OUA.tv.
