Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues fell 5-2 to the Brock Badgers on Friday evening (Feb. 10) in St. Catharines, Ont.
Battling back-and-forth through the opening two frames, the Varsity Blues remained even with the Badgers entering the third period.
Assistant captain Casey Knight opened the scoring for U of T in the first as Toronto jumped ahead 1-0 within the first minute of play.
However, just 90 seconds into the second Sammy Banga scored for Brock to restore the tie game.
Then, just three minutes later Corey Jackson put the Blues back in the lead with a powerplay marker.
Brock once again responded though as Matt MacLeod scored on the powerplay for the Badgers resulting in the tie game entering the third.
That is when Brock pulled away, scoring three goals over the final 20 minutes to secure the victory over U of T.
Varsity Blues goaltender Andrew Hunt was tested early and often, recording 32 saves in the loss. His counterpart Clint Windsor registered 33 saves for the Badgers.
The Varsity Blues will now challenge the Waterloo Warriors tomorrow afternoon (Feb. 11) in their regular season finale. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. with the game being streamed live on OUA.tv.
