BLUES FALL TO T-WOLVES

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 3-1 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday night (Nov. 18) in Thunder Bay, Ont.

The loss puts the Blue and White at 4-7-1 (W-L-OTL), while the Thunderwolves move to 6-6-1 as they near the midway point of the regular season.

Toronto opened the scoring about six minutes in the first period with Matt Campagna winning a draw in the Lakehead zone and veteran defenceman Corey Jackson scoring from the point.

However, the Thunderwolves would battle back late in the second period with a goal from Cooper Leitch off a turnover in the Toronto zone.

Lakehead took the lead early in the third period as Jake Ringuette took a shot from the point and Brennen Dubchak was there to tip it in.

Toronto's Aidan Wallace had a great chance to even the score late in the third period with a powerful snipe on net, but Lakehead goalie Devin Green stood tall.

The Thunderwolves added a late empty net goal in the last seconds of the game to solidify the win.

U of T rookie netminder Frederic Foulem posted 35 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues are back in action next Friday, November 24 as they take on the UQRT Patriotes in Trois-Rivières, Que. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
