BLUES DROP CLOSE BATTLE WITH RAMS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 5-2 to the Ryerson Rams on Friday, November 10 at Varsity Arena.

Rams rookie forward Cavin Leth opened the scoring with a goal just under five minutes into the first period.

Toronto quickly responded as third-year forward Max Lindsay corralled a bouncing puck in the slot and turned around to shoot and find the back of the net.

But just before the end of the first frame, Ryerson's Daniel Poliziani would score to give his team a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.

About five minutes into the second period, sophomore defenceman Evan MacEachern received a beautiful pass from Dean Klomp to find the back of the net and even the score at 2-2.

However, Alex Basso notched a powerplay marker just over two minutes later and that would stand as the game-winner. Ryerson was up 3-2 after 40 minutes of action.

Matt Mistele added some insurance midway through the third period and Erick Delaurentis tallied the Rams fifth goal off a penalty shot with four minutes remaining in regulation.

U of T rookie netminder Frederic Foulem posted 27 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues are back in action tomorrow (Nov. 11) as they host the Western Mustangs at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m with the game being streamed live on OUA.tv.
