BLUES FALL TO UNDEFEATED LIONS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 4-1 to the York Lions on Friday, October 27 at Varsity Arena.

The loss puts the Blues at 2-2 early in the season thus far, while the Lions improve to 5-0 to lead the OUA West.

The Varsity Blues dominated the first period in possession, peppering the Lions net with 11 shots, but were unable to beat goaltender Alex Fotinos.

However, York would break the stalemate on a power play six minutes into the second period with Reid Jackman deflecting in a Nik Coric shot.

Early in the third period, Jackman scored his second of the night after an unlucky turnover at the Toronto blue line.

Toronto, not going down without a fight, would get on the scoresheet at 12:42 in the third period with Connor Graham passing in front of a congested York net, Ryan Kirkup helping the puck along, and Louis Kereakou finishing it, scoring his first goal as a Varsity Blue.

Although outshooting York, the Blues comeback would ultimately fall short as the Lions added an empty netter and powerplay marker to close out the night.

Varsity Blues goalie Frederic Foulem posted 19 saves in the loss.

The Blue and White are back in action tomorrow night (Oct. 28) taking on the Laurier Golden Hawks at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m., with the action also being streamed live on OUA.tv.
