MACEACHERN LEADS BLUES IN OT VICTORY

Box Score Second-year defenceman Evan MacEachern scored both goals as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the Queen's Gaels 2-1 in overtime on Friday night (Oct. 20) at Varsity Arena.

Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, MacEachern wasted no time in the 3-on-3 overtime period, going coast-to-coast and beating Gaels goalie Jacob Brennan top shelf just 1:08 into the frame.

Rookie goalie Frederic Foulem was kept busy, making 15 saves in the first frame alone, en route to a 28-save performance in the win.

The Blues got on the score sheet first late in the first frame as MacEachern sent a point shot through traffic to find the bottom left corner of the net.

After a scoreless second period, Gaels forward Luke Bertolucci deflected a centering shot to even the score just four minutes into the third frame, ultimately forcing overtime.

The Blues are back in action tomorrow (Oct. 21) to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
