BLUES UPSET NO. 10 PATRIOTES

Box Score Fourth-year netminder Andrew Hunt posted 32 saves as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team shut out the No. 10 nationally ranked UQTR Patriotes 3-0 on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 7) at Le Colisee Arena.

It marks Toronto's first win over UQTR since November 11, 2011. 
 
Second-year forward Aidan Wallace opened the scoring late in the first period, notching his team-leading ninth goal, and third of the weekend, on the powerplay. The Blues were up 1-0 at the first intermission.
 
After a scoreless second period, sophomore standout Ryan Kirkup gave the Blues some cushion late in the third period, notching his second goal in as many games. Fourth-year Blues forward Dean Klomp added an empty-netter with one second remaining to round out the win.
 
Hunt was amazing throughout the entire game, including a 17-save third period, en route to his first shutout of the season.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action this Thursday, January 12 as they travel to Guelph to take on the Gryphons. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
