University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey defenceman Cristine Chao was named a member of the CIS all-rookie team at the Sun Life Financial All-Canadian Banquet held at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary on Wednesday evening.

Chao, a first-year commerce major from Toronto, led all OUA defencemen with 15 assists in her first year with the Blues.

She notched two assists in four games and was a vital member of Toronto's powerplay, which ranked third in the province this season.
