MEN'S HOCKEY FALLS IN GAME 2 TO MUSTANGS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team will head to Game 3 of their OUA West semifinal series versus the Western Mustangs after dropping Game 2, 7-3, on Friday night (Feb. 26) at Varsity Arena.

Game 3 will take place Sunday night (Feb. 28) in London with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The Mustangs started Game 2 on fire, jumping out to an early two-goal lead thanks to goals from Ray Huether and Western playoff scoring leader Andrew Goldberg.

However, the Varsity Blues would respond with goals from Max Lindsay and Dean Klomp to even things up as the teams reached the first intermission.

In the second, the Mustangs continued to find the back of the net as defenceman Stephen Gaskin utilized a Cody Brown screen to beat Blues goaltender Andrew Hunt, before Brown notched his own goal during four-on-four action shortly after.

Toronto made things interesting early in the third period when rookie standout Matt Campagna sent a beautiful wrist shot top shelf to cut the Western lead to just one, but the Mustangs secured the Game 2 victory with two more third-period goals.

Hunt finished the game with 21 saves, while Mustangs goaltender Greg Dodds stopped 16.
