TORONTO VS WATERLOO QUARTER-FINAL PREVIEW

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team hosts the Waterloo Warriors in OUA quarter-final action this Saturday, February 27 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

Opening serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale here. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The winner of the match will advance to the OUA Final Four, hosted by the top-seeded McMaster Marauders the following weekend. McMaster is also the host of the 2016 CIS championship, with two other OUA schools set to join them on the national stage.

A Head-to-Head Look:

Toronto secured their first home playoff match since 2003-04 with a thrilling 3-2 win over the Western Mustangs last weekend. U of T finished the season with a 13-7 record, in fourth place in the OUA, while Waterloo was 11-9 in fifth.

The Blues went 1-1 versus the Warriors this season, and the two teams last met in the post-season in the 2012-13 season, with Waterloo coming out on top, 3-1. Toronto holds a 4-2 post-season record over Waterloo since their first meeting in 1983.

Blues to Watch:

Fifth-year setter Aleksa Miladinovic is coming off OUA athlete of the week honours, after tallying a career-high 57 assists in Toronto's 3-2 win over Western last weekend. The Toronto native finished the regular season ranked fifth in the OUA with 9.54 assists and seventh with 2.20 digs per set.

Third-year right side hitter Will Colucci and fifth-year left Stefan Ristic rank among the top four players in the province, averaging 4.5 and 4.7 points per set, respectively. Colucci leads Toronto with 0.67 blocks per set, while Ristic tops U of T with 22 aces.

Rookie Andrew Kos ends the regular season ranked second among OUA liberos, averaging 2.64 digs per set.

Warriors to Watch:

Right side hitter Braden Cok leads the Warriors offensively, ranking seventh in the province with 4.4 points per set, with setter Gibson Graham sitting second in the OUA with 10.08 assists per set.

Erich Wooley tops the OUA with 2.76 digs per set, while Aidan Simone's serve proves second best, with 30 aces in 20 matches this season.
