BIG WEEKEND FOR MEN’S HOCKEY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team enters the final week of the OUA regular season with a playoff position secured, but final seeding still undetermined. Facing off in Guelph against the Gryphons on Thursday, February 11 before returning home to Varsity Arena for their season finale against the York Lions on Saturday, February 13, the week will be critical in setting U of T up for a playoff run.

Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with advance tickets for Saturday's contest on sale here.

Currently in eighth place in the OUA East with a 10-14-2 record, the Blues will be able to utilize the matchups as reconnaissance for potential first-round matchups with the Gryphons who sit third in the East at 15-11-1 and the Lions who lead the pack with a 16-6-4 record.

Looking to break the 30 point plateau for the first time in his Varsity Blues career, fourth-year forward Christian Finch continues to lead the way offensively for Toronto with eight goals and 21 assists. Finch has successfully picked up a point in all but two weekends this season and has played a pivotal role in U of T victories, nearly averaging two points in each of the teams 10 wins (1.8).

Just behind Finch, fellow fourth-year forward Patrick Marsh tops the Varsity Blues in goals scored this season, while totalling 25 points (13 G, 12 A) and first-year forward Matt Campagna sits fourth in OUA rookie scoring with 25 points (9 G, 16 A), displaying the bright future in store for the Blues.

For the season finale versus York, the Lions will look to their own trio of adept scorers in forwards Trevor Petersen (16 G, 12 A), Greg Milner (10 G, 24 A), and Justin Larson (6 G, 21 A). Both Petersen and Milner have set new career-highs in points this season, while Larson has continued his prestigious CIS career which includes a CIS scoring title, OUA West first team all-star recognition, and CIS second team all-Canadian honours.

The Blues are also set to honour nine graduating players in a special pre-game ceremony on Saturday night.
