BLUES COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AT MATTAMY

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 6-4 to the No. 8 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams on Saturday night (Nov. 5) at Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Tied 1-1 after 30 minutes, thanks to a Blues first-period goal from fourth-year veteran Dean Klomp, the Rams exploded for three goals in less than six minutes to take a 4-1 advantage into the final frame.

Toronto rookie Connor Graham notched his first career goal 18 seconds into the third period, but Ryerson responded with a tally from Michael Fine just over two minutes later.

Sophomore defenceman Matt Heffernan sparked the Blues, scoring his first career goal with the Blues just 20 seconds later and team captain Charlie Connell brought Toronto within one at the 8:31 mark of the third.

The Blues battle hard but were unable to solver Rams goalie Taylor Dupuis again. Fine added an empty-netter with 28 seconds remaining to round out the Ryerson win.

Andrew Hunt made 27 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, November 12 as they host the Nipissing Lakers at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale here.
