BLUES FALL PREY TO LIONS ON HOME ICE

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 5-1 to the York Lions on Friday, November 25 at Varsity Arena.

The Lions got out to a strong start, scoring two goals courtesy of Greg Milner and Kyle Campbell within the first 10 minutes of the contest and held a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

York added to their lead early in the second period with two goals in the first two minutes, this time courtesy of Josh LaFrance and Campbell.

Blues netminder Michael Nishi made a great glove save at the midway point of the second frame off a powerful shot from Campbell and the Lions held a 4-0 advantage after 40 minutes.

Early in the third frame, Toronto's Dean Klomp almost scored off a wrist shot just in front of the net, but Lion's goalie Mack Shields stood strong.

However, U of T broke the shutout with a goal from sophomore Aidan Wallace off a backhanded rebound from veteran Russell Turner.

The Lion's leader in points, Derek Sheppard, scored just under a minute later to round out the 5-1 victory.

Nishi, making his second appearance of the season for the Blues, posted 26 saves in the loss.

The Blues are back in action next Friday, December 2 to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees in Ottawa. Puck drops at 7:30 pm
